Tanzania & Zanzibar 2024 Fundraiser-Hike Highlights
Professor Clayton L. Walton, M.Ed, MSW, Executive Director of the Office of Global Initiatives and Experiential Learning (OGIEL) at Rutgers University – Newark, and his team has began their hike to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This project commemorates the launch of our Local to Global Hike and Bike fundraising campaign to raise funds vital for the maintenance and expansion of our We Share Solar Suitcases in the Global South.

To date, 37 We Share Solar suitcases have been installed in community centers, schools, and health clinics in our community partners in Puerto Rico, Belize, Tanzania, Zanzibar, India, and Nepal.

Just recently, the Tanzania & Zanzibar Spring 2024 cohort of International Leadership Exchange (ILE) scholars completed two new solar suitcase installations at the King’ori Secondary School and Mareu Health Center at the Meru District in Tanzania that had unreliable access to electricity. There is still much work to do, but with your support, we are hoping to be able to deploy more in the future.

We hope that you are able to partake in this amazing endeavor by sharing this among your network or donating to our campaign: https://lnkd.in/eB–QwCZ
